There’s nothing quite like waking up to the perfect breakfast: a toasty bagel with a smooth layer of cream cheese and maybe even some tasty toppings. Luckily, the Dallas bagel shops are some of the best around, so there’s no need to catch a flight to a New York bodega.

Whether you’re a fan of savory sandos or prefer something sweeter, our guide has all the go-to Dallas bagel shops.

🥯 Shug’s, 3020 Mockingbird Ln. and 4001 Lemmon Ave.

In City Editor Summer’s opinion, Shug’s is the end-all be-all of bagel shops. Native New-Yorker Justin Shugrue opened Shug’s after graduating from SMU when he couldn’t find his favorite fix in the area. Order the signature breakfast sandwich, The Spicy Shug, or try a deli sandwich classic. Trust us, you can’t go wrong.

🥯 Starship Bagel, 6859 Arapaho Rd. and 1520 Elm St. #107

@nyx_starlight said Starship Bagels is so good — and we agree. For an out-of-this-world experience, try a toasted bagel with your favorite schmear — from garden veggie to honey almond, there’s something for every palate. Plus, Starship Bagel’s basil Schmear was named Schmear of the Year in by the 2024 New York BagelFest, so stay tuned for more award-winning flavors.

🥯 Benny’s, 1901 Skillman St.

Benny’s boasts loaded sandwiches and thick schmears, which are piled onto its freshly baked bagels. For something a little heartier, the restaurant also offers a French Dip sandwich and a loaded Big Potato Burrito.

🥯 Dan’s Bagels, 301 Trophy Lake Dr Ste. 132, Trophy Club

For those willing to make the drive, @dallasfoodblogger Rachel said Dan’s hits the spot. The shop specializes in sourdough bagels which are baked fresh daily. The shop touts benefits of sourdough, which include a lower glycemic index and easier digestibility. The more you know.

🥯 Sclafani’s New York Bagels and Sandwiches, 6135 Luther Ln

Get the authentic New York bagel experience with these boiled and baked bagels that use traditional baking methods for the perfect texture. Try a Bayonne for a taste of Taylor Ham, or pick up a Greenwich Village lunch sandwich for a taste of the big city.
