The Traphene Hickman Library in Cedar Hill is now open to all residents in the DFW area. The grand opening was Saturday, April 27.

Library Services Director Aranda Bell said that the opening is truly a blessing and has already gained a strong following and plenty of community support.

“This is a community dream come true … over 20 years in the making. We just opened over a month ago and it has been a blessing. We have served 16,000 people already,” Bell said. “This is a library, a park, a museum, and we have lots of space for gathering. We offer classes. We have books … e-books, audio books, print books.”

The library calendar is full of events surrounding reading experiences and classes including the following:

  • Preschool storytime
  • Toddler storytime
  • Tween graphic novel book clubs
  • Computer coding classes
  • Teen game nights
  • Microsoft Office courses
  • Google courses
