Surrounding suburbs that are not Dallas, but we still like them

The Stonebriar Centre Mall is a Frisco hot spot located conveniently on the north side of the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

The Dallas area is surrounded by plenty of suburban cities. But, lookout because some suburbanites are claiming Dallas but live outside of the city limits.

Here are five popular suburbs that make for a great trip outside of Dallas:

Frisco

Frisco and Dallas have a lot in common. Both cities are connected by the Sam Rayburn Tollway and boast prominent shopping centers: Frisco with the Stonebriar Centre Mall and Dallas with Northpark Center Mall. Frisco also hosts the Dallas Cowboys Headquarters at the Star in Frisco, despite the team’s name associating with Dallas. Similarly, while Dallas is known for attractions like Cidercade, Frisco counters with Nerdvana, a unique multi-platform gaming console restaurant.

Plano

During September, Dallasites can’t wait to check out the H-E-B Central Market Balloon Festival. There is also Legacy Food Hall. Conveniently located off of Dallas North Tollway, it is an expansive live music retail space, and food scene that rivals the Dallas Farmers Market.

Arlington

The city between Fort Worth and Dallas offers plenty of different attractions like the Texas Rangers stadium known as Globe Life Field. There is also the vibrant music and food venue, Texas Live which is known to host concerts, events and, a lively atmosphere. In just under 20 minutes, Dallas residents can make their way to the city.

Cedar Hill

This suburb prides itself on outdoor activities and beautiful, hillside scenery. The newly opened Traphene Hickman Library is full of events and activities and the Cedar Hill State Park offers an amazing view of Joe Pool Lake. Much like Cedar Hill, Dallas has White Rock Lake which offers walking and biking trails.

Garland

The Firewheel Town Center consists of retail and living space, a Barnes & Noble, and plenty of surrounding restaurants. Garland is also home to multiple civic and community events in the Curtis Culwell Community Center.
