Dallas City Hall has established offices for providing assistance to small businesses

Doors are opening for small businesses every day in Dallas.

To help people who are ready to make the big leap into self-employment, local governments offer several small business resources. Here are a few:

Source Dallas

The Dallas Small Business Center offers resources and training through the online portal Source Dallas. This portal offers assistance in finding funding, co-working, economic development, and much more. Along with offering small businesses financial assistance, Source Dallas also offers events for training and networking.

Entrepreneurship Training

For individuals just starting out in their entrepreneurial endeavors, Dallas offers support through programs such as:

  • ARPA Small Business Assistance
  • Southern Dallas Investment Fund
  • South Dallas/Fair Park Opportunity Fund
  • Neighborhood Empowerment Zone
  • The Mayors Task Force on Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Business Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

This department offers resources for contract compliance, certifications, and outreach to women and minority-owned businesses. Small business owners can also reference the city’s disparity study to learn more about the specific needs of diverse communities.

Dallas County

Outside of the city’s efforts, Dallas County also provides assistance.

The Dallas County Office of Small Business Enterprise provides opportunities for small businesses through help with contract and subcontract opportunities.

To receive this assistance, a business owner must be certified by the Small Business Enterprise through the following groups:

  • The DFW Minority Supplier Development Council
  • North Texas Regional Certification Agency
  • Women’s Business Council/Southwest

The business must also meet the size standards of the U.S. Small Business Administration, be organized as a for-profit, and have a local presence within the Dallas County Metropolitan Statistical Area.
