Space Cowboy, a new home store in Lower Greenville on Bell Avenue, wants to change the way that Dallasites view decor. “We are all about fun colors and vibrancy. We are definitely not a fan of the color beige,” says co-owner Michael Isaacs.

How did this place come to be, you ask? We got the chance to ask the owners themselves.

How did Space Cowboy get its start?

Issacs and his husband Jeffrey Chatterton opened Space Cowboy in July of 2024 after two years of preparation by the couple. After initially setting up shop in Deep Ellum, Issacs and Chatterton moved to the eclectic Lower Greenville area. Issacs says that when it comes to the store, there’s more than meets the eye. “To me, it’s very eclectic and fun and comes from a love of color and nostalgia too. You know, it’s really kind of a love letter to interiors from my husband and I.”

The couple had looked at Bell Avenue for a while before their dreams became a reality."Me and my husband had a store in New York for five years. Post COVID we decided to come to Dallas to be close to family and on property. When we were looking around Dallas and looking at spaces, we fell in love with the area.”

What is the overall concept of Space Cowboy and how does it reflect when it comes to customers?

One thing both owners want people to feel when they come to the store is a euphoric and nostalgic feel. “I just want people to leave with a smile on their face having found that perfect thing for their loved ones or themselves,” he said.

Okay — I’m ready to shop. What are the hours of operation?

The store is open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., but if you’re not able to make it during those times, they also have an online store showcasing many of their popular items.
