Labor Day weekend is here and we are doing the hard work to make sure you don’t waste a minute of it. Here are the top events you have to check out this long weekend.
  • Labor Day Pickleball Social | Thursday, Aug. 28 | 6-9 p.m. | Dallas Farmers Market | Start your weekend one day early by participating in friendly and free games of pickleball.
  • Riverfront Jazz Festival | Friday, Aug. 29-Sunday, Aug. 31 | Times vary | This annual music festival is back in its eighth year with three days of talented jazz performers.
  • Watch Party: Texas at Ohio State | Saturday, Aug. 30 | 11 a.m. | Cosm | If you didn’t want to spend your entire life savings to travel to this game, make a far shorter trip to Cosm for just as good views of the field.
  • Music Alley Market | Sunday, Aug. 31 | 6-10 p.m. | Levitt Pavillion | Bring your family + dog to this late-night event featuring local musicians and food trucks.

East Texas A&M vs. SMU Mustangs | Gerald Ford Stadium | 9 p.m. | The Longhorns aren’t the only Texas team kicking off this weekend, and our Mustangs are aiming to exceed last year’s success.

Sunday, Aug. 31

Six Course Craft Beer Dinner Party | 6-10 p.m. | Turning Point Beer, Bedford | $103 | Imbibe on a curated, multi-part meal that was designed by a classically trained chef + enjoy pairings with local beers.

Development

Halperin Park, a multi-level park with a five-acre footprint, is opening soon. The first phase is expected to be completed by spring 2026, and planning on the second phase is starting in a couple months. (WFAA)

State

Texas will roll out $146 billion in road improvement projects next year. These will target many needed roads in the DFW area, including highways 287 and 81. (WFAA)

Opening

Dallas is traveling to France at its newest restaurant serving Michelin Star dishes in a casual setting. Stop by Mamani on Tuesday, Sept. 2 for its opening day to try offerings form its “refined bistro” menu. (Eater Dallas)

If you’re trying to leave Big D for the Big Easy, check out Frontier Airlines’ two new direct routes out of the DFW Airport. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 2 and start at $39. (CultureMap Dallas)

You’ll soon be able to go to Netflix in real life thanks to its newest opening in Dallas. The Netflix House — slated to open Thursday, Dec. 11 — is a new experience-style museum where fans can learn more about popular originals from the streaming service, including “Stranger Things” and Squid Games.” (CBS News)
