It’s October, y’all. That means it’s nearly time for the Dallas Mavericks to start the NBA regular season.

If you’ve been following along, Dallas acquired some new talent over the summer that could potentially change the game this upcoming season. The 2024-2025 season is the Mavericks’ 45th and their 24th year playing at the American Airlines Center.

Here’s what you can expect:

New players on the block

This summer, the Mavericks signed three big names and made one trade. Dallas said goodbye to Tim Hardaway Jr. as the Mavericks traded him to the Pistons for Quentin Grimes.

New names on the roster include:
  • Klay Thompson | Signed a three-year, $50 million contract. Thompson said he chose Dallas for a fresh start in a new market.
  • Spencer Dinwiddie | Signed a one-year free-agent contract for $3.3 million. Experts say Dinwiddie is a good choice due to his familiarity with Coach Jason Kidd’s system. He will also act as Dončić's left-hand man, relieving some pressure for him on the court.
  • Naji Marshall | Signed a three-year deal worth $27 million. Marshall will add depth and versatility to the Mavericks’ rotation.

Where to stream the games

Last month, the Dallas Mavericks and WFAA’s parent company TEGNA announced a multi-year media rights agreement that will make WFAA the team’s official local broadcast partner. You can also watch the game on NBA League Pass and TNT.

Psst — stay up-to-date on all of the big talking points throughout the season with LockedOn’s daily podcasts.

Upcoming home games + tickets

The Mavericks will play the San Antonio Spurs in the season opener for the second consecutive year on Thursday, Oct. 24, in Dallas. Tip off is at 6:30 p.m.. Tickets are on sale now.
