As great as Dallas is on foot, sometimes you’ve got to take a drive. Whether it’s to clear your mind or listen to some tunes, we’ve got three suggestions for you.
Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge
If you want to wow someone on their first entry into Dallas, we recommend driving under this iconic arch with the skyline in the backdrop. This can be a great “welcome to the city” moment in the evening with the buildings shining in the night sky.
Swiss Avenue Historic District
This 2-mile stretch in East Dallas offers picturesque views of historic homes that date back to the 1940s and earlier. The neighborhood had strict building policies in the past that required new houses to be two stories tall, made of brick or stone, and cost at least $10,000. Thanks to decades of preservation efforts, the neighborhood and many of the homes within have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
White Rock Lake
Take a drive around this popular city lake by slowly cruising down East and West Lawther Drives + East Mockingbird Lane. These connect to circle the lake, providing a 360-degree view of the 1,000+ acre lake.
