With less than 18 days until the fair kicks off, we’re giving you the run-down of what’s happening this year at Fair Park. Ride with us.
Hours, tickets, parking
The fair runsFriday, Sept. 27 -Sunday, Oct. 20
Gates open at 9 a.m.
Tickets + parking passes are available online. Admission costs $5-$25.
Parking is available onsite — its $30 at official Fair lots. Check out the directions to get to the gates.
Pro tip: If you arrive after 5 p.m., all guests will pay the price of a child’s ticket.
As always, expect a lot of fried food along the midway, as well as the winners of this year’s Big Tex Choice Awards. This year, don’t forget to stop by and try new additions like the Russo’s Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick and Texas Sugar Rush Pickles.

Bryan Berg the Card Stacker | The Guinness World Record holder is ready to wow this year’s state fairgoers with his incredible card-stacking of famous Texas icons.
Lonestar Ladies Gun Club | Monday, Sept. 9 | 5:30-8 p.m. | Texas Gun Experience, Grapevine | $35 | Learn about self-protection and guns with experienced instructors during this beginner-friendly class.
Joshua Ray Walker | Monday, Sept. 9 | 7 p.m. | The Kessler | $24+ | Get your cowboy boots on for an electrifying boots-gliding night of country music with country singer Joshua Ray Walker.
Tuesday, Sept. 10
Connect & Create: Preschool Playdate | Tuesday, Sept. 10 | 9-10 a.m. | Meadows Museum | $0+ | Every second Tuesday of the month, children ages two to five and their adults can enjoy the museum an hour before it opens with storytime and an art project.
AT&T Performing Arts Center & AEG Present: CAKE | Tuesday, Sept. 10 | 8:30 p.m. | Strauss Square | $0+ | The alternative rock band brings their witty tunes and wicked dance moves to AT&T’s Performing Arts Center.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
Childish Gambino - The New World Tour | Wednesday, Sept. 11 | 8 p.m. | American Airlines Center | $60+ | Move your body and experience an eruption of funk and soul like no other with the legend himself.
FTC Presents: Justin James’ Live Special Taping | Wednesday, Sept. 11 | 7:15 p.m. | Dallas Comedy Club | $15 | Prepare for laughs and be a part of the live taping of this new comedy special.
You may get blinded by the light as two gold buildings off US-75 shine brightly after a $50 million renovation. The Guild, at 8150-8350 N. Central Expwy, stands 20 stories tall and will feature a conference center, hospitality lounges, coffee bars, and a loft. (CultureMap Dallas)
Watch
Now that’s game. WFAA has secured a major multi-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks. All 70 or more non-nationally televised games will be broadcast for free over-the-air during the upcoming season.
Stat
