School has just started and work seems to be piling up. Labor Day is a perfect holiday for you to hit the pause button and say, “so long summer.”

Every year, Labor Day falls on the first Monday in September and celebrates the social + economic achievements of workers in the US.

We have rounded up some local events that offer the perfect blend of relaxation and entertainment for your Monday.

El Agapón: Labor Day Celebration at The Pool Club | 12-6 p.m. | Virgin Hotels Dallas | $25 | Grab your crew, get the sunscreen, and head on out for a Labor Day retreat at Camp Pool Club.

Labor Day Family Fun Weekend | 9-4 p.m. | Dallas Arboretum | $10-$16 | Plan a nature day at the Arboretum. Enjoy a picnic at the park, a petting zoo, or live music. Get your tickets.

Frisco Roughriders vs. Wichita Wind Surge | 6 p.m.| Riders Field | $11-$41| Enjoy a hot dog (or two), a beer, and some post-game fireworks at this intimate ballpark during Military Appreciation Night.

Civic
  • The Dallas City Council last week approved a new program to honor fallen first responders by installing street signs with the names of the officers in the neighborhoods they served. The initiative will honor 167 police officers and firefighters, with the first two signs scheduled to be installed near Deep Ellum this week. (Dallas Morning News)

  • The Crow Museum of Asian Art of The University of Texas at Dallas is opening a second location at its Richardson campus. It will be the first cultural building for the location. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new location will be held on Sept. 24. (Dallas Business Journal)

Grapevine-based gaming merchant, GameStop, is launching “GameStop Retro,” which will carry vintage consoles and games such as the GameCube, “The Legend of Zelda,” and “Donkey Kong.” The new locations will be available across Dallas, Arlington, Euless, and Allen.
