There are over 200,000 older adults in Dallas. From dance outings to social gatherings, the city offers many opportunities for older adults to explore, connect, and thrive. Check out our list of different events for Dallasites of all ages, but especially those looking for adult-friendly activities.

Organized activities

Dallas Parks and Recreation offers Active Senior Adult Programs, which give adults aged 60+ opportunities to get out in the city for recreational and leisure activities Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. From aerobics to arts and crafts, book clubs, and city day trips, there are various opportunities for fun.

Meet-ups

Looking to meet other adults in your area? Meet-up posts events for older adults in Dallas hosted by various organizations. Savvy Seniors is another local organization that hosts meet-ups, concerts, tye-dye parties, and other interactive get-togethers.

Get out and about

Calling all creatives and life-long learners. Spend a day at the Dallas Museum of Art, perfect for those who want to walk around and see art while also getting their exercise in. Thanks-Giving Square is also perfect for those who want to see other art forms throughout the city. The garden is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the Chapel of Thanks-giving is open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Dallas World Aquarium is another cool spot that features interactive themed exhibits centered around marine mammals, sharks, and fish.

Volunteer

If you’re looking for ways to give back to the community, find volunteer opportunities at CitySquare. The organization serves those living in poverty while also hosting discussions, community events, and galas to raise community awareness.

  • TEN Sushi + Cocktail Bar is the newest sushi spot coming to The Union. The new concept will bring sushi with Pan-Asian dishes featuring raw food, steaks, and curry dishes. The 4,295-sqft space is set to open on Aug. 2. (Dallas Observer)
